The Managing Director of the Kenya Railways Corporation Mr Atanas Maina will be among the Key speakers when Railway Infrastructure experts drawn from East Africa and beyond converge in Nairobi in November 2017 to discuss current and emerging trends in the sector.
Other speakers at the two day event include the Secretary General of Port Management Association of East and southern Africa Ms Nozipho Ndawe, Managing Director, Uganda Railways Corporation, Charles Kateeba, Director, Tanzania Railway, Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority Michael Kisaka, and JICA Infrastructure and Evaluation Advisor Steve Mogere as well as other experts from Germany, Italy, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, India, Rwanda and Djibouti.
Coming soon after the successful completion of the Mombasa – Nairobi standard gauge and Ethiopia-Djibouti electric railway projects, The East Africa Rail 2017 conference to be held at the Crowne Plaza on 21st and 22nd will be a bench marking and networking platform as the rest of the region plan to improve their railway transport.
According to the programme released by the event organizers, Tarrapin Ltd of South Africa, major topics of discussion will be focusing on costs and sustainability and investment opportunities available along financing, planning, developing and managing efficient railways and intermodal transport to boost trade and hasten regional integration.
